Consider Donating to the Boston Truck Collective
The 2004 Burningtruck project is going to cost significantly more than the previous year due to increases in both shipping and fuel costs. - around $7900 compared to $6700 last year. Because of this, we are soliciting donations. Please consider making a donation even if you will not be using the container or attending the burn this year. Your donations go directly to offset the shipping costs. Use the link below to donate through PayPal, or email wagnertruck@chaoshacker.org to make other arrangements. Making a donation here does not entitle you to any space - if you need space, sign up at the bottom of the page. Thanks!
Thanks to the following people who have made donations: John Gardner
The container is sold out.
If you missed out and still need space, please email us and I'll put you on the wait list. There is a possibility that I'll get a second container since the wait list is getting long! If you are seriously interested, please email me.
Welcome to the 2004 Boston Truck Collective! Our mission is simple - to provide round trip transportation for artwork, projects, bikes, and supplies from Boston to Black Rock City! This is a community driven, not for profit project, where our goal is to get your stuff to the playa and back on time and in one piece, and break even!

Changes From Last Year

Fund Raising More effort is going to be put into fund-raising since container shipping rates and fuel surcharges have gone up.

New Share Structure This year three different share types are available, single bike share, single bike and a box, and the usual full share. See the breakdown below.

New Loading Area It is not going to be possible to squeeze the container behind An Tua Nua again - too much work, not enough space. So, we have a new loading area that is better suited for a 48' container.

Stricter Space Management When loading day comes around, be sure your things fit into the space you paid for, and be sure it is packed properly! The share 'Enforcer' will have bad news for you otherwise. Have a large or oddly shaped piece of work? Contact us and let us know before hand. The share enforcer will make sure everyone gets the space they signed up for.

Volunteers A few dedicated individuals willing to commit time and effort to the project are needed. Right now we will need the following:

  • Pack-masters to guide the load-in here in Boston and out on the Playa. The pack-master has the vision of how the load will fit together and leads the loading effort. We will need 2-3 for each load-in.
  • Share Enforcers to monitor share usage and packing methods. We will need 1-2 for each load-in.
  • Helpers to aid those who have not packed their things properly. Help people break down bikes, secure boxes, etc. We will need 2-3 for each load-in.
Container Guide Someone with a car will be needed on September 7Th to lead the truck driver from the main gate to the container for pickup.

Additionally, all shareholders(excluding bicycle-only) will be allowed to pack one duffel or box in at the tail end of the load. Pack your tent, sleeping bag, and some food.

Share Types

Bicycle Share ($75.00) A Bicycle Share entitles you to ship one Bicycle in the container. It should not occupy more than 20 cubic feet and must be packed as described in the container guide.

Bicycle and One Box ($125) This share entitles you to ship one bicycle and one box no larger than 6 cubic feet. Both the Bike and Box must be packed as described in the container guide

Full Share ($200) Each full share entitles you to 100cubic feet of space. Buy a bunch and ship what you want as long as it is packed as described in the container guide.

Share sales will continue until the container is full or enough funds have been raised.
